Sisterhood

To pledge Alpha Phi is to join a sisterhood through which deep friendships are formed and lasting memories made. Our sisterhood program designs opportunities for our members to break from “the daily grind” and spend time with sisters. Throughout the year, Iota Alpha chapter hosts activities like:

“GIRLS’ NIGHTS OUT”

entails renting a limo for a night on the town, or getting together at a member’s house for a special dinner.

RETREAT

the highlight of the sisterhood program, is when we pile into carpools and head out of town together. Past retreats have been held in Dana Point, Palm Springs, Santa Monica, and in Santa Barbara. We spend time shopping, lounging on the beach or by the pool, scrapbooking, playing games, watching movies and having a great time together.

SENIOR SEND-OFF

the last Alpha Phi event of each year, is a time for the chapter to recognize our graduating seniors. Sir Isaac Newton once said, “If I have seen further it is by standing on the shoulders of giants.” Iota Alpha chapter recognizes that those who came before us helped our chapter become what it is today. We are grateful for our seniors and alumnae, and for their contribution to Alpha Phi.

HIKES

take advantage of Pepperdine’s beautiful location, nestled between warm, sandy beaches and the Santa Monica Mountains. Regular hikes in the nearby Malibu Creek State Park and the Santa Monica Mountains National Recreation Area are a great way to get to know the local surroundings as well as your sisters. There are several trails around our campus and into the mountains and canyons that offer spectacular views of Malibu.

SHOPPING EVENTS

Our favorite stores in Malibu like J.Crew and Kate Spade host Alpha Phi only shopping events, often offering discounts on merchandise and tasty treats for shoppers.

SCHOLARSHIP

Scholarship was one of our founders’ highest ideals, and is an essential component of Alpha Phi at Pepperdine. Recognizing Alpha Phi’s commitment to scholarship, our chapter has developed fun ways to encourage our members’ academic pursuits and reward their scholarly success together as a sisterhood. Scholarship programming includes weekly study hours, sharing recommendations for classes and professors, and celebrating each sister’s academic success at chapter meetings.

College is only a four-year journey, but Alpha Phi sisters walk with you forever.
